The SVO Pet of the Week is Dora. Dora is as sweet and cute as they come. However, she is very true to her breed and proved to be a bit too much for her first owner. Australian Cattle Dogs are driven, smart and athletic. They need a benevolent leader to show them the ropes as well as someone who will respect their herding instincts and keep them mentally occupied. Dora has already shown that she likes to herd, so we are recommending a home that has had herding dog experience as well as a home without small children. She is incredibly smart, sweet, and eager to learn. We believe she could become an exceptional family member. Dora is a spayed female medium size Australian Cattle Dog born around May 2011. For More information about Dora or any of the other wonderful dogs or cats awaiting adoption at the Animal Shelter of the Wood River Valley, please visit our website at www.animalshelterwrv.org or call 788-4351.
The SVO Pet of the Week is Roxy. Roxy is an exuberant, social, and fun dog. She hasn't had much in the way of training, but she is a quick learner. Her first home didn't know exactly what they were getting into when they adopted a dog of her lineage. Huskies are smart and active… They need to keep both their mind and body active. Roxy will need daily hikes or runs, as well as mental stimulation. She is good off leash and should make a wonderful hiking buddy. While Roxy likes to play with other dogs, her play style can be quite inappropriate and bossy. We are recommending that Roxy be the only dog in the home, and that play sessions be closely monitored with other dogs. Roxy is looking for a home where her basic manners training and education will be continued, and she will get some fun exploring the beautiful area we live in! Roxy is a large, spayed female Husky/German Shepherd mix born around October 2010. For more information about Roxy or any of the other wonderful pets awaiting adoption at the Animal Shelter...
The SVO Pet of the Week is Mondo. Let’s be honest. Mondo is a big cat. In fact, he is one of the largest cats we've seen. We think he carries most of his weight in his head. Besides being large, Mondo is very sweet. He is a bit reserved, but once you get to know him, he loves attention and will happily be petted all day long. He seems fine with other cats and just keeps to himself. He isn't very intimidated by dogs, but that is probably because he is about the same size as a lot of them. This guy is an absolute doll, and we're hopeful he'll find his forever home soon. Mondo is a neutered male Domestic Shorthair born around 12/15/09. For more information about Mondo or any of the other wonderful cats and dogs available for adoption at the Animal Shelter of the Wood River Valley, please visit out website at www.animalshelterwrv.org or call 788-4351.

Spaghetti and Acorn, named after the varieties of squash, are two adorable young cats. Found as strays, they were brought to the Shelter for safe keeping. They both have unique markings and are incredibly eye catching, but in different ways. Acorn has precise brown and black patterns against white, with large, compelling eyes, and Spaghetti’s longer hair is soft and predominantly dove grey. Affectionate and outgoing, these two pretty kitties enjoy attention and are always ready to play. They are friendly with other cats and, while not too sure about dogs, they're more likely to check out a human visitor and enjoy a bit of attention than to hide. Spaghetti and Acorn are great cats looking for a loving place to call home. Acorn and Spaghetti are both fixed Domestic Shorthairs born around April 2011. For more information about these kitties or any of the other wonderful dogs or cats at the Animal Shelter of the Wood River Valley, visit our website at www.animalshelterwrv.com or call 788-4351.
It's raining kittens at the Animal Shelter! It's a downright cutefest! Some are so bonded they would love to go home together as a pair, so Shelter is currently offering a "two for one" or half price sale on kitten adoption fees. You've got to see these little guys to believe what a cutefest it is at the Animal Shelter right now, so come on down and give a kitty a home... but only if you know you'll love him just as much when all grown up as you will when he's tiny. These guys are looking for nothing less than families they can count on for the rest of their lives. Here are some of the kittens available at the time of publication, but hurry... They're too precious to last!

Dynamite Specialty Products is preparing for pre-Fourth of July sales increases of Relax and Tranquil, homeopathic products that reduce anxiety for dogs during Fourth of July fireworks. The products also are effective for horses. Relax, initially designed to ease dog anxiety during training and competition, is also a major help with fireworks and other loud noises, said Callie Novak, Dynamite CEO. The natural herbal formula is drug-free and can be sprayed in the animal’s mouth. Dynamite’s companion product for horse and dog anxiety is Tranquil, also an all-natural herbal, homeopathic formula. It works like a tranquilizer to create a feeling of calmness. It is useful when hauling horses, as well as during Fourth of July fireworks, Novak said. Both products are available from Dynamite Specialty Products, a family-owned business that has specialized in animal nutrition for four generations. Dynamite has long developed food and nutritional supplements, including its signature products, Dynamite for horses and Showdown...
